Trimlight vs. Oelo

There are a few permanent outdoor lighting options available for homeowners and businesses seeking trim lighting solutions. While we confidently believe Trimlight stands as the premier choice, we acknowledge the existence of alternatives. To assist you in making an informed decision that aligns with your needs, we've compiled data on the differences between Trimlight and Oelo Lighting.

Comparing Trimlight vs. Oelo: Important Differences You Should Consider

Lifetime Product Warranty

  • Trimlight offers a lifetime product warranty. Trimlight dealers offer varying labor warranties, but rest assured that each one includes a minimum 1-year labor warranty to give you peace of mind.

  • Oelo offers a 7-year product warranty on installations done by authorized, preferred, and platinum dealers, and a 5-year product warranty on installations done by contractors. Oelo offers a 1-year labor warranty.

Light Usage vs. Warranty Coverage

  • Trimlight offers a lifetime product warranty on up to 50,000 hours of light usage.

  • Oelo offers a 7-year product warranty and is advertised as 100,000 hours of light use.

Note: If an Oelo client uses their lights for 8 hours a night for 7 years, they're covered for 20,440 hours of light usage, after which the product warranty expires. In contrast, a Trimlight client using their lights for 8 hours a night for 7 years is covered for 20,440 hours, plus an additional 29,560 hours, which equates to an additional 10 years and change beyond Oelo coverage.

In addition, it should be noted that Oelo states their lights are rated for 100,000 hours, but their product warranty only covers 7 years.

Multiple Bulb Options

  • Trimlight understands every client has unique preferences and financial requirements and that's why we offer three bulb options: classic, 3L, and commercial designed bulbs.

  • Oelo offers one bulb option.

Multiple Spacing Options

  • Trimlight provides three spacing choices: 6 inches, 9 inches, and 12 inches.

  • Oelo offers a spacing option of 10 inches or closer.

  • Trimlight offers a sleek aluminum channel that seamlessly integrates with the architectural aesthetic of your home or business, creating a sophisticated and modern look that enhances the overall appeal of your property. Our residential trim lights protrude out of the channel and point downward, providing maximum visibility at night from all angles and provides a traditional holiday lighting look.

  • Oelo offers two options; an acrylic mounting option that introduces cover gaps every 96" and a metal channel option.

*Note: Using an aluminum channel especially where areas are susceptible to weather elements like rain or snow is recommended over metal because aluminum is a lightweight and corrosion-resistant material. This means that the aluminum channel will not rust or deteriorate over time, even when exposed to harsh weather conditions. Additionally, aluminum has excellent thermal conductivity, which helps dissipate heat effectively, ensuring the longevity and optimal performance of the lights. By choosing an aluminum channel, you can have peace of mind knowing that your trim lights will not only look sleek and modern but also withstand the elements for years to come.

Channel Color Options

  • Trimlight offers over 50 channel color options.

  • Oelo offers 10 channel color options.

  • Trimlight comes in a 12 volt system.

  • Oelo comes in a 36 volt system.

Note: In LED lights where individual bulbs are encapsulated in epoxy, effective heat dissipation is paramount for ensuring the longevity and optimal performance of lights. The epoxy encapsulation provides protection against environmental elements, but it also necessitates efficient heat management. When the lights are powered, they generate heat, and a lower voltage system proves to be the optimal choice for mitigating this heat. By utilizing a lower voltage, each individual LED operates at a cooler temperature, reducing the overall heat generated within the lights. This lower heat output not only enhances the safety of the lights but also significantly contributes to their lifespan. The cooler operating temperature minimizes stress on the internal components, such as the semiconductor junctions, ensuring that the LEDs maintain their brightness and color consistency. Therefore, choosing Trimlight lights with a lower voltage becomes the ideal solution for maximizing longevity and preserving the festive glow throughout the seasons.

Movements Available

  • Trimlight offers 20 movements that can be added to any custom built pattern or preset pattern in our Trimlight Edge app.*

  • Oelo offers 16 movements in their app. Oelo advertises 18 color-movements but we aren't counting stationary and their security lighting spotlight feature, which doesn't move.

*Note: With Trimlight, you have complete control of creating a security lighting pattern custom built for your home or business. See link for an example.

Lights Dance To Music

  • Trimlight offers a feature where you can connect to your favorite music and your lights will dance to that music.

  • Oelo does not offer a dance to music feature.

Special Effects

  • Trimlight offers a lightning effect and snowflake effect that can be added to any movement or custom pattern created using Trimlight Edge. In fact, you can have the snowflake effect and lightning effect on at the same on any custom built pattern.

  • Oelo offers a lightning and storm movement but we're unsure if you can have both movements on at the same time.
