What should I do If I lose connection on my Trimlight phone app?
If your Trimlight app loses its connection to the controller, force close the app, perform a soft reset, and check the controller’s indicator lights. Connection problems are often caused by incorrect Wi-Fi information, a weak network signal, or a temporary communication issue between the app, controller, and router.
Connection failures can occur during the initial setup process or after the controller has already been connected to your home network. The troubleshooting steps may vary depending on when the problem begins.
During the initial setup, confirm that your phone is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network and that the same network is selected inside the Trimlight app. Carefully reenter the Wi-Fi password and check all uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters. Wi-Fi passwords are case-sensitive, so even a small typing error can prevent the controller from connecting.
The strength of the Wi-Fi signal near the Trimlight controller is also important. Exterior walls, brick, metal, distance from the router, and other obstructions may weaken the signal. Use your phone near the controller to see whether the Wi-Fi connection remains strong in that location.
If the network information is correct, restart your router and modem to refresh the home network. Disconnect the equipment from power, wait briefly, and reconnect it. Allow the network to fully restart before opening the Trimlight app and attempting the connection again.
You can also perform a soft reset on the controller. Disconnect the green power block located at the top of the controller and leave it unplugged for 30 seconds to one minute. Reinsert the green block securely and allow the controller time to restart.
After the controller powers back on, force close the Trimlight app so it is no longer running in the background. Reopen the app and check whether the connection has returned. Review the controller’s indicator lights and confirm that the appropriate green or blue light is showing.
If the connection fails after the system was previously working, check whether your router, internet provider, Wi-Fi network name, or password has recently changed. The controller may need to be reconnected using the updated network information.
