How to pair your Trimlight Select Plus system to your home network?

Pairing your Trimlight Select Plus controller with your home Wi-Fi network allows the system to communicate with the Trimlight app on your mobile device. After the connection is complete, you can access the available colors, patterns, schedules, and lighting controls from the app. Have your Wi-Fi network name and password available during setup. Your phone should be connected to the same home network you want the Trimlight Select Plus controller to use. Staying close to the controller may also help maintain a reliable connection while the system is being paired.

Connecting to the controller:

The video below explains how to connect a Trimlight Select Plus system to a local Wi-Fi network. Follow the tutorial to add the controller in the Trimlight app, select your home network, enter the correct password, and complete the pairing process.

Wi-Fi passwords are case-sensitive, so check every uppercase letter, lowercase letter, number, and special character carefully. Selecting the wrong network or entering the password incorrectly can prevent the controller from connecting.

Open the Trimlight app and follow the prompts for adding or pairing a controller. When the available networks appear, choose the Wi-Fi network used by your home. Enter the password exactly as it appears in your router settings, then allow the app and controller enough time to complete the connection.

Avoid closing the app or changing networks while the pairing process is underway. Your phone may automatically switch to another saved network or mobile data if the Wi-Fi signal becomes weak, which can interrupt setup.

If the controller does not connect, check the Wi-Fi signal at its installed location. Distance from the router, exterior walls, brick, metal, and other building materials may reduce signal strength. Use your phone near the controller to confirm that the network remains available in that area.

Force closing and reopening the Trimlight app may refresh the setup process. You can also restart your router and allow the home network to fully reconnect before trying again. Confirm that the controller is powered on and that all required connections are secure.

After pairing is complete, test the system through the app. Try turning the lights on, choosing a color, or selecting a saved pattern to confirm that the controller is responding. If your internet provider, router, Wi-Fi network name, or password changes later, the controller may need to be connected again using the updated information.
