What Should I Do If My Trimlight Select Plus App Connection Fails?

If your Trimlight Select Plus app loses its connection to the controller, force close the app, perform a soft reset, and check the controller’s indicator light. Connection problems are commonly caused by incorrect Wi-Fi information, weak signal strength, or a temporary communication issue between the app, controller, and home network.

A connection failure may occur while initially setting up the Trimlight Select Plus controller or after the system has already been connected and operating normally. Identifying when the problem started can help determine which troubleshooting steps to follow.

During the initial setup, confirm that your phone is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network. Select that same network when prompted in the Trimlight app and carefully enter the password. Wi-Fi passwords are case-sensitive, so verify every uppercase letter, lowercase letter, number, and special character. Even a small typing error can prevent the controller from completing the connection.

Check the Wi-Fi signal at the location of the Trimlight controller as well. Distance from the router, exterior walls, brick, metal, and other materials can weaken the signal. Use your phone near the controller to confirm that the selected network remains available and has a reliable connection.

Restarting your router and modem may refresh the network and clear a temporary communication issue. Disconnect the equipment from power, wait briefly, and reconnect it. Allow the home network enough time to restart completely before opening the Trimlight app and attempting the connection again.

You should also force close the app so it is no longer operating in the background. Reopen it after a few seconds and try connecting again. If the issue remains, perform a soft reset on the controller by disconnecting its power for 30 seconds to one minute. Reconnect the power securely and allow the controller time to restart.

After the controller powers back on, reopen the app and check the indicator light. Confirm that the expected green or blue light is showing for your connection status.

If you receive a connection failure after the system was previously connected to the network, check whether your internet provider, router, Wi-Fi network name, or password has changed. The controller may need to be reconnected using the updated network information.
