How do I connect my Trimlight Edge lights to music?
The music feature in Trimlight Edge lets your permanent lights react to sound in real time. You can use your phone’s microphone, play a compatible MP3 stored directly on the device, or connect an audio source to the controller’s auxiliary input. The effect can then be adjusted using different music patterns, sensitivity settings, colors, and sequence lengths.
Trimlight EDGE Connect to Music Tutorial
The Trimlight Edge music feature must be used while your phone is connected to the same local Wi-Fi network as the controller. It will not work while the app is operating through its remote ONLINE connection. If the music page displays “Not available,” confirm that your phone is connected to the correct home Wi-Fi network and that the controller is showing a local connection.
Open the Trimlight Edge app, enter your controller, and select the Music icon. Choose how you want the system to receive sound:
Microphone Mode uses the microphone on your phone or tablet. Place the device near a speaker so it can clearly hear the music. Because the lights respond to all sound picked up by the microphone, nearby voices and other noises may also affect the display.
Player Mode uses MP3 files downloaded directly to the mobile device. Streaming services and device-specific playlists, including Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, and Amazon Music, are not supported through this mode.
Auxiliary IN uses sound received through the auxiliary port on top of the controller. This option requires a compatible audio device and auxiliary cable connected to the controller.
After choosing an input, explore the available music patterns and select a preferred color when that option is supported. Use Music Sensitivity to control how strongly the lights react to the sound. On compatible patterns, Sequence Length changes how many lights are grouped together as they respond.
