How do I hard close apps on my phone?
Learn how to force close apps on your phone with our step-by-step guide. Keep your smartphone running smoothly so your Trimlight system can reboot properly.
The steps for hard closing an app depend on whether you use an Apple or Android device.
Apple devices with Face ID: Swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen and pause near the center. Your currently open apps will appear as cards. Find the Trimlight app and swipe its preview upward until it disappears from the screen.
Apple devices with a Home button: Quickly press the Home button twice to display your recently used apps. Locate the Trimlight app and swipe its preview upward to close it completely.
Android devices using gesture navigation: Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and hold briefly until the recent-apps screen appears. Find the Trimlight app, then swipe it upward or follow the direction shown by your phone to remove it.
Android devices with navigation buttons: Tap the Recent Apps or Overview button at the bottom of the screen. The icon may appear as three lines, a square, or another similar symbol depending on the phone. Find the Trimlight app and swipe it away to close it.
Simply opening a different app or returning to the Home screen does not fully close the Trimlight app. It may continue running in the background and keep its previous connection active.
After hard closing the app, wait a few seconds before reopening it. This gives the app a fresh start and may restore communication with the Trimlight controller and network. When troubleshooting, complete any recommended controller reset first, allow the controller time to restart, and then reopen the app.
Force closing an app does not delete your saved patterns, schedules, login information, or controller settings. It only ends the current app session. If the Trimlight app still does not respond after being reopened, continue with the appropriate controller or network troubleshooting instructions.
