Can I turn my lights on or off when away from home?
Yes. The Trimlight Edge app allows you to access and program your lights while you are away from home, whether you are across town, traveling for work, or on vacation. As long as your Edge controller remains connected to your home network and your phone has internet or cellular service, you can open the app and manage your lighting remotely.
Remote access gives you many of the same controls you use at home. You can turn the lights on or off, choose a saved pattern, change the displayed colors, and make adjustments without being physically near the controller. This is useful when plans change unexpectedly or when you want your home to appear illuminated before you return.
The calendar and scheduling tools provide another convenient option when you know your plans in advance. You can create lighting schedules before leaving so the system automatically follows the selected start times, stop times, patterns, and dates. A schedule can keep everyday accent lighting running consistently, prepare the home for a holiday, or turn the lights off at the end of the evening without requiring you to check the app.
For the most reliable remote control, confirm that the controller appears online in Trimlight Edge before you leave. If your home loses power, the router goes offline, or the controller loses its network connection, remote commands may not reach the system until the connection is restored.
If the controller shows as offline while you are away, you may not be able to correct a power or home-network issue remotely. Once someone at the property restores the connection, the controller should be available through the app again.
Use saved schedules for lighting you want to run automatically, and use remote access when you need to make a quick change from another location. Together, these features make it easier to manage your lighting without changing your travel plans.
