Can I set up daily timers and calendar events on the same day?
Yes. You can use a recurring daily timer and a calendar event on the same day, but their scheduled operating times should not overlap. Keeping the times separate allows each schedule to run as intended without giving the controller two different instructions at the same time.
Daily timers are useful for lighting routines you want to repeat on selected days of the week. A calendar event is better suited for a specific holiday, birthday, party, or date range that may use a different saved pattern.
For example, you could create a Thanksgiving calendar event that displays a holiday pattern from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. After that event ends, a daily timer could begin at 11:01 p.m. and continue until midnight or later. The one-minute separation prevents the two schedules from trying to control the lights simultaneously.
When setting up both schedules, review the selected pattern, date, active days, start time, and stop time for each one. Pay close attention to morning and evening settings so a schedule does not accidentally extend into the operating period of another event.
After saving the daily timer and calendar event, return the controller to Timer Mode. The controller must be in Timer Mode for the saved schedules and calendar events to activate automatically.
If you need to change an existing schedule, adjust either its start time or stop time so there is a clear break between the two programmed periods. You do not need to remove the daily timer simply because a calendar event is scheduled for the same date.
It is also helpful to give saved patterns recognizable names, such as Everyday Accent, Thanksgiving, or Birthday Colors. Clear names make it easier to confirm that the correct display is attached to each schedule.
