Can I program Trimlight from a computer?
Trimlight is primarily an app-driven lighting system, so it is designed to be programmed from a compatible smartphone or tablet rather than a traditional Windows computer. Trimlight does not currently support Windows PCs for standard lighting control or programming.
What Devices Can I Use?
For everyday programming, Trimlight recommends using the Trimlight Edge app on a compatible iPhone, iPad, or Android device. From the app, you can control colors, create custom patterns, select presets, adjust animations, set schedules, and access other supported lighting features.
If you use a Windows desktop or laptop, there is currently no standard Windows version of the Trimlight Edge app. Because of this, a Windows PC should not be used as the primary device for programming the system.
Can I Use a Mac?
Certain Mac computers can run Trimlight Edge through Apple’s app ecosystem. Apple currently lists the app as compatible with macOS 11.0 or later on Macs with an Apple M1 chip or newer. The App Store also notes that Trimlight Edge is not verified for macOS, so the experience may differ from using the app on an iPhone or iPad.
For the most straightforward setup and everyday control, a supported mobile device remains the better option.
If you want to use Trimlight on a new device, install the correct Trimlight app, sign in with the account associated with your controller, and confirm that your lighting system appears before making programming changes.
In short: Windows PCs are not supported, while compatible Apple Silicon Macs may run Trimlight Edge. For the most reliable experience, use an iPhone, iPad, or Android device.
